          About Me

          Sarah Smith.
          Kent Watercolour Artist.

          My aim:
To be the best that I can be and have fun doing so!

          Photographic/Art Qualifications:
LRPS, CPAGB, A Level Fine Art & Design

          My speciality:
          Watercolours of animals.

          My customers:
All wonderful people wanting something different, artistic and personal.

          My character:
Honest, hard working, determined and with a natural empathy for people and a desire to please.

          Natural ability:
I have always loved to draw and received my first commission at a reasonably young age.Initially my medium was in pencil and ink to later enjoy working in watercolour. It is still a wonderful feeling that all these years later I can still produce something that my customers love to display on their walls! As for photography, I followed my dad into that so I kind of think it’s in the blood! Over the years, the two have worked so well together making me feel at times that I am simply doing something I love as opposed to work at all!

          Most memorable compliments:
“ I knew you would always do it….. It was simply a matter of time”
          “ I don’t know why I love it...... I just do”

          What keeps you so motivated?
A number of things:- The belief that if you are determined, hard working, constantly striving to improve, believe in yourself and love what you do then you will get there! Life's too short to spend time doing a job that you hate.

          My past and my future:
Redundancy from banking gave me the opportunity for a life style change. I have started a new chapter in my life. It is now more relaxed and I paint whenever the mood takes me! I feel very lucky to be in this position. .

          When did you start painting?
I initially took commissions for pencil portraits back in 1986 -1988 purely as a hobby. Due to work commitments, art work ceased until self employment in 2003, gave me the opportunity to combine Art and photography as a full time job. The Photography became my main focus for many years until 2018 when I found the time to get my watercolours out once again.
Today, when I have time, I love to paint. I find it relaxing, absorbing, rewarding and just something to lose yourself in. Better still, that others like my work and purchase my artwork!

How I started in Wedding Photography:
I was introduced to a retired professional Wedding and Portrait Photographer who said “ If I like you I’ll help you. If I don’t I won’t”. Lucky for me he did!. Thank you Barry!

          And finally, my thanks:
To my customers…I wouldn’t be here without you. Thank you for your repeat bookings, wonderful testimonials, orders and word of mouth recommendations!
